Veteran cue master Warren Kiamco claimed his second title this year after ruling the 40th Annual Texas Open held recently at the Round Rock in Texas, USA.
The 43-year-old Kiamco thumped American Charlie Bryant, 2-0, in their two-game championship showdown. The Filipino scored 9-4 in Game 1 and 9-6 in Game 2 to earn the $4,725 top prize. Bryant settled for the $3,210 runner-up purse.
Kiamco went undefeated in the elimination round to secure a spot in the finals. He beat Americans Patrick Warren (9-5), James Davis Jr. (9-1), Juan Parra (9-0), David Henson (9-8) and Daniel Coffman (9-3) before facing Bryant in the finals.
Kiamco won his first title this year at the Midwest 9-Ball Tour 2013 Stop 1 held in Kansas in February. He also got runner-up honors in the Four Bears Classic 9-Ball Event 2013 in New Town in April and NJ State 10-Ball Championship in Edison, New Jersey in March.
Meanwhile, former world champion Rubilen Amit and Southeast Asian Games champion Iris Ranola are in Group 7 of the 2013 World Women’s 10-Ball championships being held at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City.
Joining Amit and Ranola in the group are Tan Ho Yun of Taiwan, Marika Poikkiokki of Finland, Angeline Ticolau of Indonesia and Bi Zhu Qing of China.
