• Curfew on minors stays in QC despite Supreme Court TRO

Mayor Herbert Bautista on Thursday said his administration will abide by the decision of the Supreme Court (SC) stopping Quezon City from enforcing a city ordinance on curfew on minors. Bautista, however, added that he will not prevent barangay (village) officials from carrying out their respective ordinances on curfew to discipline minors. He said the barangay tanod (village watchman) may continue to round up curfew ordinance violators because they are not covered by a temporary restraining order (TRO) issued by the SC. On Wednesday, the court released the TRO for Manila, Navotas City and Quezon City to stop implementing city ordinances that prevent minors from roaming in their communities beyond 10 p.m.
