• Customs not appointing Uson as social media consultant

THE BUREAU of Customs (BOC) on Thursday denied reports that singer-dancer Mocha Uson, a staunch supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, would be appointed social media consultant of the agency.

This after ABS-CBN News reported that Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon had confirmed the appointment of Uson.

“Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon will not appoint Mocha Uson as BOC Social Media Consultant but she can write articles about BOC on her blog,” a BOC statement said.

In a text message, Faeldon’s office said Uson just went to the BOC to interview the commissioner, and that the supposed appointment was just a “joke.”

Uson’s supposed appointment became a trending topic on social media as netizens questioned her qualifications for the job.

Uson manages “Mocha Uson Blog,” a Facebook page which has about four million followers.  She campaigned for Duterte during the May 9 presidential elections, endearing her to the President’s supporters whom she calls “Ka-DDS” or “Duterte Die-hard Supporters.”

Forrmer Customs chief Ruffy Biazon said there was no need for a social media consultant, saying the BOC head himself could do the job.

“Customs is a highly technical field. Not anybody can just write about it from the outside. Even Customs beat media don’t know all aspects,” Biazon said in a text message.

Dapat si Customs Commissioner ganoon din, pakuha mo ng Civil Service Eligibility si Mocha para mag-apply ng position as Customs Social Media Officer (CSMO).
