• Customs orders probe on ‘fake’ officer killed in Cagayan de Oro City

AN alleged officer of the Bureau of Customs (BoC) in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) Port who was killed in a reported shootout with a broker in Cagayan de Oro City was not a BoC employee, according to an official.

In a report to Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña, BoC-CDO intelligence chief Alvin Enciso said on Sunday that a verification check on the identity of Roy Etulle Ancajas, 45, showed that the victim was not connected to Customs.

On November 11, it was reported that Ancajas, a resident of No. 122C Cabantan Street, Mabolo, Cebu City, was killed in a shootout with alleged Customs broker Joed Pasasadaba in Barangay Macasandig.

“Based on our investigation, we discovered that Ancajas is not a member of the Customs Police nor is he an employee of the bureau. There is no record of a BOC employee bearing the name Roy Ancajas,” said Enciso.

The Customs Police ID recovered from the crime scene was also fake.

BoC-CDO district collector Jamail Marohomsalic has ordered an investigation on how Ancajas was able to obtain a Customs Police ID and for what purpose. WILLIAM B. DEPASUPIL
