DA TO MODERNIZE LIVESTOCK TRADING MARKETS

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has partnered with the Japanese government to upgrade and modernize livestock trading markets in key production areas to provide farmers, producers and traders more income, as well as create more jobs. During the inauguration of the P40-million livestock oksyon market (LOM) in Batangas, Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala said that the DA is pursuing the initiative in partnership Japan and host municipalities and cities. The upgrading of the Lemery LOM was jointly funded by the Japanese government, which provided P34 million under the 2KR grant, the DA through the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) sharing P3 million and the host municipal government sharing P3.5 million.
