THE Department of Agriculture (DA) wants the P70-billion budget of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) converted into livelihood funds to help Filipinos become productive and to promote countryside development.

On the sidelines of the First Philippine Agriculture Trade and Investment Forum on Thursday, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol said the government could lend the funds to the program’s beneficiaries for agricultural activities and help them earn a living, instead of doling them out every month.
