• Dagupan City searching for ideal site for fish port

THE local government of Dagupan City said on Saturday that they are now conducting a study to determine the most ideal location of the city’s first fish port. Mayor Belen Fernandez said that the planned fish port is the first of its kind in the city and will be built by the National Government through the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority. Fernandez tapped Engr. Romeo Rosario, chief of the Dagupan City Planning and Development Office, to spearhead the task force that would find the most feasible site for the proposed fish port. The construction of the Dagupan fishport is provided for in a law both approved by the House of Representatives and the Senate through a bill filed in the 15th Congress by Rep. Gina de Venecia of Pangasinan province. De Venecia believe that the fishport can accelerate the development of the fishing industry not only in Dagupan but the whole of Pangasinan and Region 1.
