Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales ordered the filing of charges against Kidapawan City Regional Agrarian Reform Adjudicator (RARAD) Henry Gelacio for direct bribery and graft and for a violation of Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Gelacio, according to the Ombudsman’s findings, has asked tenant-farmer Eduardito Garbo for money and a supply of tuna in exchange for the issuance of a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) and a Writ of Preliminary Injunction in an agrarian case pending with Gelacio’s office.
The anti-graft office put weight on the farmer’s claim that he sold their farm animals and other implements just to come up with the amounts allegedly demanded by Gelacio. When he filed the complaint, the amount reportedly reached P120,000. Reina Tolentino
