Darkness plagues La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY: Residents in this city were taken by surprise when a supposed 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. power outage was extended until before midnight, which caused many to buy candles, matches and mosquito repellant coils. A week earlier, the La Union Electric Company, in a joint power interruption schedule with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippine, posted advisories in social networking sites that a brownout would during that time frame on Saturday, but power was restored at 11:43 p.m. of the same day.
