ZAMBOANGA CITY: Mayor Sarah Carpio has ordered the reopening of the night market in Davao City after appeals by hundreds of vendors affected by the closure early this month. Carpio closed the night market along Roxas Avenue after vendors violated many rules and regulations and complaints from legitimate traders and motorists who were affected by the heavy traffic in the area. More than 700 vendors were affected by the closure of the night market. Carpio said vendors should strictly follow the rules and other regulations set by the local government at the night market. The operation of the night market is closely being monitored by the City Traffic Transportation and Management Office and the Health Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office and the Human Resource Management Office. The local government will also put portable toilets in the area.
