De Lima bodyguard’s murder a ‘closed’ case

While Sen. Leila de Lima is facing a barrage of allegations, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has cleared her of any knowledge in the unsolved murder of her bodyguard that took place four years ago.

Alister Quintos, a companion of controversial Ronnie Dayan, alleged lover of de Lima, was found dead May 11, 2012 somewhere in Bulacan, hours after he and the security staff had escorted then-Justice Secretary de Lima to her house in Cubao, Quezon City.

“It is now a closed case after a theory surfaced that he was robbed and dumped in Bulacan,” an NBI source told The Manila Times.

He asked for anonymity since he was not allowed to talk to the media on the matter.
“Allegedly, he was on his way to his house in Antipolo City when he was taken by robbers. That’s all we learned. There was no foul play, according to investigation,” the informant said.

Some, however, are not convinced of the “robbery” scenario, hinting that something sinister took place days before May 11.
