National mainstay Orencio James De Los Santos will defend his title in the 3rd International Shotokan Karate Federation World Shoto Cup slated on August 18 to 21 in Cape Town, South Africa.

De Los Santos bagged the Male Kata Individual title during the 2012 edition held in Cebu City.

“I am preparing both physically and mentally for this tournament. In the physical aspect, I’ve been training almost every day of the week in my katas,” De Los Santos told The Manila Times on Wednesday.

The two-time Southeast Asian Games medalist said he is mentally confident but not overboard.

He recently bagged a silver medal in the 2016 Vietnam Open Karatedo Championship in May.

“I expect to give out my best. I have trained hard for this tournament, so I will give out the best I’ve prepared,” De Los Santos said.

“We are happy in the Federation that we have players who are eager to represent our country and earn medals,” said Philippine Karatedo Federation (PKF) secretary-general Raymund Lee Reyes.
