A dead bird stuck at the left wing flap of a China Airlines plane caused the cancellation of its Boeing 747 jumbo jet flight to Taipei on Friday. Flight CI701 just landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport from Taiwan at 9:29 a.m. when pilots noticed the bird strike. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines later recommended the cancellation of the return flight. The jet’s 190 passengers were brought to hotels and rebooked for the next available flight. Bird strikes cause revenue loss, damage aircraft and endanger lives of passengers. Recently, a Cebu Pacific plane was also hampered by a bird strike in Legazpi City, Albay, causing flight cancellation and inconveniences to passengers.
