Miss Universe runner-up reveals her beauty preps for the big day
Former Binibining Pilipinas titleholder and Miss Universe runner-up Shamcey Supsup was launched as the latest Facial Care Center endorser on Monday, and for the beauty queen, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
Why so? Because the 27-year-old stunner is a Christmas bride who will wed her boyfriend, business magnate Lloyd Lee, in two ceremonies December 29.
“I just want to look radiant on my big day and I know Facial Centre can help,” the radiant bride-to-be said with a smile.
She had just come from several meetings with her wedding suppliers during her launch-cum-bridal shower at the Zuellig Building’s Terraz Bistro, and had no trace of stress on her famous face.
Supsup wasn’t always so open about skincare and makeup. More than anything, she was more conscious about her self-described “super duper hairy” body and religiously shaved and waxed to stay smooth and hair-free.
“I grew up with my dad so hindi ako talaga ma-dress or ma-kikay,” she explained. It was only when she started doing pageant rounds in 2009 that she began to take notice how other women paid special attention to their skin.
“Of course my mom would tell me to wash my face properly,” she recalled, “But the other girls would be talking about this product and that product so that’s when I really got into it.”
The pageant grind eventually took a toll on Shamcey’s skin.
“Pag beauty queen, iba kasi ang makeup. Hindi siya pwedeng fresh lang,” she explained. “It’s heavier and people aren’t used to seeing us with fresh makeup.”
She went on to share a story when she had to do a back-to-back shoot out of the country, and by third layout, the makeup would no longer stay on her skin.
“Ayaw na kumapit nung makeup because my skin was overused and tired. It was really mahapdi and irritated from all the retouching and brushing.”
Her bodily hair was different issue altogether, since it was very difficult to maintain a hair-free body amid a very demanding schedule.
“When I started, sinabi nila na para akong monkey sa sobra kong balbon! So I would wax everything as often as I can on my entire body. Sobrang sakit.”
And since waxing requires a minimum amount of hair length, she would carry an emergency razor along with other girls in the pageants who had the same problem.
“Akala ko ako lang yung may ganitong really hairy problem, hindi pala,” she exclaimed.
And so, becoming part of the Facial Care Center family, whose illustrious celebrity endorsers have mesmerized the country for the past three decades, marked the end of her beauty problems, as well as the beautiful beginning of her wedding preparations.
Shamcey has been going for a combination of facials through the RevLite Total Rejuvenation program, and the LaserLight Hair Removal program for her body. Having only started the hair removal program for a few months, she is impressed by the sparse and finer re-growth of hair.
“I’m looking forward to never having to feel the pains of shaving again!” she enthused.
To help revive her tired skin are different types of nourishing and repairing facials, and the latest non-invasive technology to give her a unique dose of radiance for her wedding day.
“Say I have an event today, like this one, I go to Facial Care in the morning. Or pag hindi naman, ihahabol ko siya for the last slot.” Shamcey shared.
She confessed to being adamant about letting her skin rest after the perils of pageant life, so much so that her fiancé is already teasing her about her routine.
“When Lloyd and I go out on a date, and hindi ako naka-makeup because I’d let my skin rest, nagagalit siya!” she laughed. “Tinatamad daw ako mag-ayos for him.”
She wisely turned her weekly treatments into a date for the two of them, keeping her man happy as well.
“Every time I have a rest day, we set an appointment for a couple’s room and get a facial together. Yun yung bonding time namin and he actually enjoys it,” she shared.
Shamcey is clearly in love with her husband-to-be. “The first time I met him, meron ng chemistry. Nung sinagot ko siya, I just felt I was ready. We’d talk about marriage even before this so when we both got into this relationship, we were both serious. And nung naging boyfriend-girlfriend kami, it was already a sign that we’d get married.”
And what of her dream wedding?
“We’ve been planning for quite some time now but as the wedding draws closer, that’s when you realize there’s so much more to do!” she replied. Shamcey added that aside from the actual church and reception preparations, she is also organizing a small after-wedding part in her hometown of General Santos City for her closest friends.
And with that, the bride was excused from her shower, so she can take care of her long list of to-do’s before she says, “I do.”
