• ‘Decisions grounded on one’s character’


    BAGUIO CITY: This city recognizes that individuals are responsible for their actions and that daily decisions are made based on moral standards, which is the basis of the universal accepted character qualities including Godliness, honesty, truthfulness, diligence, generosity, responsibility, compassion and loyalty among others.

    So pointed out Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan as he issued an administrative order reconstituting the membership of the Baguio Character Council.

    Under Administrative Order No. 93, series of 2013, the Mayor will head the character council with Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda as coordinator.

    Members include Atty. Carlos M. Canilao, City Administrator and Dr. Estrella V. Bisquera, City Human Resource Management Officer (CHRMO), both representing the government sector; chairmen of the following sectors: barangay; education and youth; interfaith/religious; business, trade, industry and tourism sector; civil society and professionals; peace, justice and community relations.

    In the reorganizational meeting held at the Baguio City Multi-Purpose Hall, Domogan said that there is indeed a need to make/sustain the city as a place where family relationships are strong, home and streets are safe, education is effective, business is productive, neighbors care about one another, and citizens are free and responsible of their choice for a better life.

    The council’s tasks include the following: facilitate the production of character city posters which shall enhance good character to promote values towards the vision and mission of the city as a character city; coordinate the conduct of character orientation seminars; supervise the conduct of the character and lifestyle enhancement trainings, seminars and conferences.
