BAGUIO CITY: The Department of Health in Cordillera on Thursday reported 66 cases of dengue from January to June compared to 197 for the same period last year. Assistant Regional Director Dr. Amelita Panganiban said that despite the decline, the public should remain cautious and alert to any breeding ground that mosquitoes might thrive in. She also reminded the public to follow the Aksyon Brigada Kontra Dengue and the “4 o’clock habit” or the habit of checking for and eliminating breeding grounds of mosquitoes at four o’clock every afternoon. Their efforts extend as well as to schools by giving out curtains with long lasting insecticides. They also requested the Department of Education to allow all students (especially female) to wear pants during the rainy season so as not to be vulnerable to mosquito bites.
