THE Makati Health Department (MHD) on Tuesday reported 80 dengue cases from January to August this year compared to 191 in the same period last year. Dr. Diana Jocelyn Vaño attributed to reduction in the sustained clean-up drive in villages covering waterways, classrooms and school grounds, households and public facilities. In a report to Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay, Vaño said the Ospital ng Makati registered 61 while private hospitals and village health centers reported 10 and 9 cases, respectively. To date, there has been one death from dengue hemorrhagic fever reported—a seven-year old boy from Barangay East Rembo. MHD recorded five deaths from dengue last year.
