TWENTY-one people have already died and the number of dengue cases in Caraga region went up by 33 percent, an official from the regional epidemiology and surveillance unit (RESU) of the Department of Health-Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD) announced in a forum on Friday. Based on the 42nd morbidity week disease surveillance report or the Dengue Fever Update, April Rose Yangson, RESU surveillance assistant, said that a total of 2,310 suspected dengue cases were reported in the whole region from January 1 to October 19 this year. Yangson said that the number of cases is 33 percent higher as compared to the same period last year which was 1,740. Butuan City has the most number of cases at 764, followed by Agusan del Sur with 462. Surigao del Sur has 230, Surigao del Norte with 223, followed by Surigao City with 174. Agusan del Norte listed 139 numbers of cases, Bislig City with 124, Cabadbaran City with 84, Bayugan City 80, Dinagat Islands 17 and Tandag City 13.
