Deniece Cornejo surrendered to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Director chief Alan Purisima on Monday.
The surrender was facilitated by PNP Human Rights Affairs Office chief, Supt. Prudencio Tom Bañas, who received surrender feelers from Cornejo two weeks ago.
Senior Supt. Roberto Fajardo was quoted as saying that Cornejo was fetched by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR) personnel “somewhere in Metro Manila” earlier Monday.
A warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Paz Esperanza Cortes of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 271 on April 21, 2014 against her and four others for serious illegal detention.
Cornejo is one of the accused in the mauling incident against TV host and actor Vhong Navarro in an upscale condominium unit in Taguig City on January 22, 2014.
Navarro filed several cases against the suspect and her cohorts. The trial court charged them with grave coercion and serious illegal detention. The latter is a non-bailable offense.
