TILBURG, Netherlands: Germany’s hopes of a seventh successive European women’s title were shattered on Sunday (Monday in Manila) when second-half headers by Nadia Nadim and Theresa Nielsen gave Denmark a shock 2-1 victory in the quarterfinals in Rotterdam.
In Thursday’s semifinals, Denmark will face newcomers Austria who beat Spain 5-3 on penalties following a goalless draw in Tilburg.
