ZAMBOANGA CITY: The Department of Education (DepEd) has alerted the parents and the city engineer’s office over the dangers posed by abandoned, defective and incomplete school buildings in some of the city’s 171 public elementary and 34 high schools. City Division of Schools Acting Supt. Pedro Melchor Natividad said schools authorities cannot exercise control over the pupils or students enrolled in schools with defective and abandoned buildings. “We cannot watch them all the time considering there are hundreds of children enrolled in these schools,” Natividad said although the school principals and teachers continuously advised the students to avoid from entering into abandoned buildings.
