SECRETARY Armin Luistro on Tuesday admitted that the Education department received P4 billion funding from the controversial Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), but clarified that the money was used for the construction of additional classrooms under the second phase of the Public-Private Partnership for the School Infrastructure Project (PSIP 2). Luistro said money went to the construction of more than 10, 000 classrooms in Visayas and Mindanao in line with the government’s efforts to address classroom shortage across the country. He said the fund released in November last year was initially intended for the construction of classrooms in Eastern Visayas but the project was cancelled or discontinued after super typhoon Yolanda battered the region.
