He may be rich, famous, and drop dead gorgeous but Derek Ramsay is no heartbreaker. In fact, he tries to be friends with his ex-girlfriends given the special relationship they shared at one point in their lives.
“Sayang naman yung pinag-samahan niyo,” he explained at a news conference for his upcoming Valentine movie with ex-girlfriend Solenn Heusaff and comedienne Kiray.
Derek and Solenn dated for four years, and despite the small circle of show business have surprisingly never worked together until they were cast in this unique romantic-comedy from Regal Entertainment.
“Nine years yata kami hindi nagkita at nagkasama,” the hunky dramatic actor who said he enjoyed this comedic stint recalled. “But I was really excited when this project was offered to me to work with Solenn, because she is very special to me and to my family, until now. Yung isang niece ko was named after her and she’s also her ninang.”
Even as they parted ways as friends, Derek admitted, however, that he was surprisingly nervous when he had to kiss Solenn for a scene in the movie. In fact, he had to have a drink to calm his jitters, but nonetheless reported that all’s well that ends well.
“It all worked out eventually; the scene became very effective,” he added.
In the movie, Derek plays Wade, is a spoiled bachelor who turns his back on sassy girlfriend Maggie, portrayed by Solenn. He then meets Kiray’s character Fe, a hotel intern who looks so much like his ex-girlfriend. Or so he thinks.
Unknown to Wade, Fe’s secret weapon is a love potion, which transforms her into Maggie’s character every time she and Wade meet.
Directed by Jason Paul La-xamana, Love Is Blind, besides bringing on the laughs, hopes to inspire viewers never to lose hope in love.
As part of the movie’s promo, the cast will hold mall shows on the following dates and venues: February 6 in Starmall Talisay, Cebu with Kiray Celis and Kean Cipriano; and February 7 Market Market (4 p.m.) and Starmall Taguig (7 p.m.) with Derek, Solenn and the rest of the cast.
Love is Blind opens in theatres nationwide on February 10.
