Just as he surprised showbizlandia in 2012 by crossing over from ABS-CBN to TV5 after many years with the network, Derek Ramsay signed a three-picture contract with Regal Entertainment on Thursday, following several blockbuster movies by rival companies Viva Films and Star Cinema.
It can be recalled that these two outfits co-produced Derek’s biggest film projects, No Other Woman (2011) and Secret Affair (2012), which cemented his reputation as the movie industry’s top dramatic leading man for a time. In both films, Viva had cast him with its most bankable talent to date, Anne Curtis.
Choosing to focus on the new development in his career, Derek simply said, “Honored ako dahil I am now part of Regal Entertainment. Magaganda yung projects na in-offer sa akin kaya naman I am very excited.”
Present during the contract signing were Derek’s manager Jojie Dingcong and the mother and daughter team of Lily and Roselle Monteverde.
According to the Monteverdes, the projects lined up for the actor include a movie opposite “GMA Primetime Queen” Marian Rivera.
“I’m especially excited to work with Marian for the first time,” Derek said.
A movie with Queen of All Media Kris Aquino, with whom he was recently linked, is also in the works.
