KAPUSO stars Jack Monasterio, Kristoffer Martin, and Jazz Ocampo, admitted to having cold feet on their first walk on the ramp in “Illuminate,” a high fashion event featuring the creations of famous fashion designers Albert Andrada, Rockie Gathercole, and Bessie Besana.
“I stand 6 feet but the male models were taller. I was looking at them before the show but it seemed nothing to them to walk in front of all those people. Ako nga nerbiyos na nerbiyos pero hindi ko lang pinapahalata,” said Derrick.
Derrick got into the ramp wearing what seemed like like an Avant Garde number, complete with a mask. He was the only male model in the Rocky Gathercole collection. It was when he removed his mask that people recognized him. Some people in the audience, especially the ladies, could not help screaming in excitement.
“Si Derrick, matangkad na yan pero nanliliit pa, how much more ako. I was really praying that I would do good in my walk. I was worried I would get so conscious walking in front of all those people. I didn’t even know what happened next because when my turn came, I just walked by and I could even overhear some in the audience calling out my name. I think that gave me a little confidence. They knew me kahit mga sosyal silang tao,” Kristoffer narrated.
Jazz first learned she would be wearing an Albert Andrada collection upon her arrival in the venue. It excited her because she knew Andrada as a designer. But the excitement turned into worry after she was advised that she would be in the company of ten beauty queens.
“Mga beauty queen ‘yun like Angelia Ong who’s the reigning Miss Earth. They are all tall and I’m only 5’6”. I told myself, bahala na. I will just do my best. I was the first one to ramp followed by all the beauty queens. I think I didn’t do bad. It helped that they were all nice to me. Masarap din silang kausap,” the 16-year-old young actress enthused.
After their runway experience, the three Kapuso stars said they would gladly walk on the ramp again next time they get an invitation.
Meanwhile, Derrick is preparing for another first in his career . . . hosting a pageant. He is slated to be the male host of Miss Global International-Philippines grand coronation night on Saturday at Resorts World.

Julie Ann San Jose is now a college degree holder.
She just graduated last Tuesday with a degree in Communication Arts from the Angelicum College in Quezon City. The Kapuso singer is happy that despite her busy showbiz schedule, she had not given up on her studies. “I can say that all the hard work and the sleepless nights paid off. It’s all worth it because nothing can match the pride and the joy while I was marching during the ceremony,” Julie Ann said.
If you think that Julie Ann is done with school, you’re mistaken. She plans to take-up her masters next school year. “I don’t know, but I really enjoy going to school that’s why I’m enrolling again,” she quipped.
The Asia’s singing sweetheart is preparing for the tour of her last concert. The concert in two local cities in the Philippines are confirmed, while the American leg of the concert is under negotiation. “We will start the tour after my vacation with my family. I have already arranged it,” she said.

Living independently is a whole new experience for Janine Gutierrez. For almost two weeks now, she has been living on her own in the condo unit bought out from her showbiz earnings.
“It’s so new to me because it’s only now that I am having my own bedroom. You see, I share a room with my two other sisters in my mom’s house. This is also the first time that I would sleep in a bed that is bigger than a single sized bed. On my first morning at the condo unit, I woke up realizing that I didn’t have food to eat. I have to prepare my food. I just smiled and said to myself, this is independence!”
Janine is slowly learning the art of independent living. She did her groceries for the first time and realized she needed to learn a lot of things. “I was going around the supermarket not knowing what to buy. Sa bawat pag-turn ko sa mga isle, I would call my mom and ask her which kind of rice to buy, which brand is better or what. I’m just thankful that I have my family to lend me a helping hand. My mom is my go to person when it comes to cooking and other aspects of home making. Si papa naman is my go to guy kapag, o, papa, paano ba ‘tong TV na ‘to or yung shower,” the Kapuso actress said.
Another thing that Janine enjoys is her siblings’ frequent visits to her house. Her place serves as a halfway house for her family because it’s between the houses of her mom and her dad who lives apart from each other.
Meanwhile, Janine is so happy with the good feedback for the primetime soap Once Again. She believes the reincarnation element in the story arouses the viewers curiosity coupled with the love story of the characters that she and her leading man Aljur Abrenica are portraying.
Janine admits that she and Aljur have grown closer to each other since they started working for Once Again. “Hay, napakakulit pa rin niya. But I really appreciate that he really works hard with me to make our scenes more realistic especially now that we are shooting a lot of big scenes. We discuss how we can make our scenes more beautiful and exciting,” Janine said.

Don’t look now but a former Kapuso is making a comeback to GMA. When the former Kapuso personality guested in one Kapuso show, the crew in the studio was so happy because, as what has been the practice of the personality, he gave them belated Christmas gift, “Pasensiya na kayo, wala ako dito nu’ng Pasko kaya ngayon lang ang mga gift,” the personality told the studio crew.
