‘Times’ Parenting columnist collaborates with Early Bird Breakfast Club for Christmas menu
There are only a few days left until the Filipinos’ beloved tradition of Simbang Gabi or dawn mass begins on December 16, and of course, where to go right after church is also on the faithful’s minds right now.
The popular whole-day breakfast café Early Bird Breakfast Club is ready to welcome even more diners as the Christmas approaches with its heartwarming selections of holiday pastries, made just for this season: opulent Belgian Chocolate Ensaymada, indulgent Quezo de Bola Ensaymada, luxurious Chocolate Stuffed Madeleines and comforting Banana Bread.
During The Manila Times’ visit to the restaurant’s Century City Mall branch, Early Bird’s owner, Kendrick Co shared their special Christmas collaboration with no actress-host, successful baker and the paper’s parenting columnist Bettina Carlos and her daughter Gummy.
The partnership with the popular celebrity supermom inspired a creative and heartwarming menu in the following: Stuffed Chicken with Ris-OAT-oh (healthy risotto-like dish with stuffed chicken and oats), Malunggay Toasts with Tinapate (toasted malunggay pandesal with smoked milkfish spread), Green Tea Calamansi Cheesecake (cheesecake with a matcha and citrus twist), and the Dinotella drink (cold drink with a combination of Milo and Nutella).
“I cannot emphasize just how much I love breakfast food, and how great breakfast makes my day,” Carlos enthused.
The Mummy Bites columnist added, “Excited is such an understatement when Early Bird approached me to collaborate with them for my favorite season of the year. I was over the moon and beyond thrilled to actually pitch and contribute items for their holiday menu. I love how my concepts and fusions and life stories were integrated and transformed into actual, tangible, tasty dishes.”
A Christmas story
Early Bird was born in Christmas of 2012, and as such, every Christmas season brings the owners back to their humble beginnings.
“Every Christmas season reminds me of that one Christmas in 2012 wherein we were all busy with the construction of our first branch in Fort BGC. The whole team had many sleepless nights and stressful days as we all worked to make Early Bird Breakfast Club a reality. This is our fourth Christmas as a company. And looking back, I can’t believe that what once started out as a dream and an inspiration is now a humble breakfast chain, a homegrown brand of morning happiness loved by many,” Ellen Evangelista-Co, managing director of Early Bird Breakfast Club.
From then, it caught Metro Manila’s attention with its cozy and Instagramable ambiance. But what made customers coming back for more is its gourmet rendition of Western and Filipino breakfast favorites, such as the Yin & Yang Champorado, French Toast Fondue, Chorizo & Mushroom Risotto, and Viva Longganisa, among others.
To give back this Christmas season, Early Bird Breakfast Club is giving away its signature dish, the Puto Bumbong Pancake, for free to all balikbayans and OFWS. All they have to do is order any Breakfast of Champions dish, and present their boarding pass or passport stamp dated any time between September 1, 2016 to January 31, 2017.
