Malacañang on Monday confirmed that Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario will be stepping down from office in less than a month.

In a short statement, Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that del Rosario submitted his resignation that will take effect on March 7.

“According to Executive Secretary Ochoa, President Aquino has accepted the resignation of Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario,” Coloma said.

Del Rosario,76, has reportedly been suffering from a debilitating spinal problem.

The administration embarrassed Sen. Enrile during the SAF 44 Senate Hearing, and as a Chairman of Commission on Appointments, he has blocked previous appointments and probably any appointments that this President may appoint during his tenure. The Undersecretary should be able to handle the position for the time being, and I am hoping that the Supreme Court will take back what they have given to Enrile, and put him back to where he suppose to be, in Jail.
