Calamba City: Doctors treating Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 4-A Director Renato Brion, who was ambushed on Monday at the parking lot near his office in Barangay Parian of this city, said he is now in stable condition.
Brion was placed under routine medical procedures at Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Alabang (Metro Manila), where he was transferred Monday night from the Calamba Medical Center.
His attending physicians said the DILG director sustained two gunshot wounds in the head, one grazed his waist and another landed on the back of his neck.
Brion just alighted from his car at about 7:35 a.m. Monday when the assailant approached and fired at him while another one stood as a lookout.
The Presidential Palace swiftly ordered the arrest of the perpetrators and offered a reward of P2 million for their capture.
CALABAZON PNP Spokesman Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, also the spokesperson for the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Brion, said investigators are on the tails of two suspects, based on the recovered shells coming from 9mm and cal .45 pistols.
Police are also reviewing the CCTV footages from the parking area where he was shot and the establishments located within a one-kilometer radius from the crime scene.
SITG Brion will soon release the composite sketches of the suspects based on witnesses’ accounts.
