Diliman College outplayed Bangkok University of Thailand in the finals, 70-76, to rule the 10th Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) International Sports Fiesta held at the Shah Alam campus in Selangor, Malaysia.
Diliman College, headed by former Sen. Nikki Coseteng, outclassed the other participating teams including Malaysia University, Singapore University, Indonesia University, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, and Sarghoda University from Pakistan.
“It’s all about hard work and team work. We would like to thank Sen. Nikki Coseteng for her undying support for our sports program. We give back the glory to God,” said Diliman College athletic director Rensy Bajar, who will be calling the shots for the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 78.
Also in the coaching staff were Arnold Oliveros, VR Perez and Daniel Nudo.
“This accomplishment is the result of our hard work, preparation and discipline. In Diliman, we are molding our athletes to become a better person. Attitude is important to succeed not only in sports but in life as a whole,” Coseteng.
Diliman College earned the right to represent the country in the multi-sporting event for college students when it topped the 2015 Millenium Basketball League recently.
Besides basketball, the Philippines, represented by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines led by its President David Ong, also participated in badminton, lawn tennis and table tennis.
