Veteran campaigners Portia Kate Doragos, John Carlo Doragos and Sam Andrei Doragos banner the DPS squad in the PSL-TMTC meet, which will serve as tryout to select the country’s representatives to the 2015 World Universiade Games in Gwangju, South Korea. The World Universiade is the Olympics for college students being held every two years by the Federation International Sports University (FISU).

“The DPS swimmers are practicing in their own Olympic-size pool which is already a big advantage for them compared to other swimmers seeing action in the tournament. They also have complete gym equipment. They’re well supported,” said PSL President Susan Papa.

Besides the Doragos siblings, the other members of the team are Rome Naomi Corpuz, Gianna Millen Data, Franz Emmanuelle Joves, Jan Kyle Terese Mendoza, Imee Joyce Saavedra, Louise Jamielene Saavedra, Mary Angelic Saavedra, Sabrina Solosa, Samantha Solosa, Jose Rommel Corpuz, Angel Tristan Pascua and Simon Troy Pascua.

“DPS was the overall team champion in the 51st PSL leg series. They are very much supported by Senator Nikki Coseteng both in local and international competitions,” added Papa.

Palarong Pambansa champions Denjylie Cordero, Delia Angela Cordero and Gian Berino are products of the DPS sports development program. The Cordero sisters helped the University of the Philippines swimming team in gaining the women’s title in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 76.

“In Diliman Preparatory School, we develop athletes at the very young age, we give them proper training and exposure. We are helping them in achieving their goals,” stressed DPS President and former Senator Nikki Coseteng.

Portia Kate, John Carlo and Denjylie are scheduled to compete in the 2014 Western Province Aquatics Swimming Gala scheduled on February 8 to 9 at the University of the Western Cape Aquatics Center in Cape Town, South Africa. McTracy John Alindogan, Jifrey Azor, Emanuel Joshua Lorbes, Jasmine Mojdeh and Kyla Soguilon are also in the Cape Town-bound Philippine delegation.
