ILOILO CITY: This year’s 47th edition of the famous Iloilo Dinagyang Festival promises more fun, color, pageantry, culture, religion and history. Ramon Cua Locsin, chairman of the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc., said they are expecting more than a million revelers to troop down city streets and dance to drumbeats while shouting “Viva Sr. Sto Nino” in honor of the festival’s patron saint. Locsin added that the festival will climax on Sunday with its Ati-atihan competition. At least 21 local government units sent its contingent to the Dinagyang. Locsin added that an image of the Sto. Niño de Cebu is making the rounds in Iloilo churches and schools, reminding Ilonggos of their Catholic faith.
