Navy divers on Sunday morning retrieved two more bodies from the wreckage of the ferry M/V St. Thomas Aquinas, which sank off Talisay City after colliding with a cargo freighter Friday..
Philippine Navy spokesperson Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Fabic said that one of the bodies was male while the other was female.
The Philippine Coast Guard said the death toll in the mishap has risen to 32 as of Sunday morning.
Despite the recovery of the two bodies, Fabic refused to increase the toll to 34 saying the local government and the Coast Guard were the ones tallying the death toll and that rescue and retrieval operations were being conducted by other agencies.
The Saint Thomas Aquinas 1 of 2GO Shipping sank after colliding with the MV Sulpicio Express 7 of Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corp.
