Celebrity radio DJ Karen Bordador and her boyfriend Emilio Lim were arrested after packets of ecstasy, marijuana, and marijuana oil worth P3 million were found at a condo unit in Pasig City on Saturday.
The drug buy-bust operation also yielded drug paraphernalia, money and a bill counting machine.
According to ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol news report, Lim was allegedly a big-time supplier of drugs in high-end bars in Makati and Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City. The clients are reportedly students, wealthy teenagers and celebrities.
Earlier reports indicated that a Filipino-American drug dealer identified as Evan Reynald Baylon tipped off the Eastern police about Lim. Baylon was arrested for selling ecstasy in BGC.
Meanwhile, Bordador denied involvement in the drug dealing. In a report from GMA Network’s 24 Oras, a tearful-sounding Bordador was quoted as saying, “I wasn’t doing anything, I just visited.”
However, a Monday report from news.abs-cbn.com said police confirmed that drugs were seized directly from Bordador
“For the three weeks surveillance, we cannot say that she was directly involved, but recovered from her possession are some ecstasy (pills) during the progress operation that was done by our operatives,” said National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Spokesperson Chief Inspector Kimberly Molitas.
Bordador is known as a popular radio DJ for FM station Monster Radio RX 93.1, a blogger, entrepreneur and was a part of FHM’s annual 100 Sexiest Women list. She and her then boyfriend, Chris Tan, were contestants on ABS-CBN’s reality show, I Do.
Netizens, meanwhile, took to social media to sympathize and express their dismay over the latter’s arrest.
“Anyways, Karen Bordador must reveal the list of her celeb clients. Spill the tea sis,” user @FUHranze posted on Twitter.
Twitter user @dudawnchit said “But Karen Bordador was a nice person…We’ll never know. :( It was too shocking.”
“I have zero sympathy for making poor life decisions, especially when you’re sleeping with a druggie. RIP career of DJ Karen Bordador.” @OdeiraOloap shared.
“When you’re in a relationship, is it possible that you don’t know the sneaky business of your other half Karen Bordador.” @weinsworld pointed out.
“You still my favorite Lady DJ…Karen Bordador” told user @EngrMoks2016.
Last Thursday, Philippine National Police chief Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa said high-end clubs and bars in Makati City and Bonifacio Global City are the next target in the war on drugs. He added that the owners of the bars in Makati and BGC are willing to meet with him and said that they would cooperate with PNP in the ongoing campaign against the menace.
“Those are already lined up. In fact, I already sent someone to speak to bar owners in BGC, Makati area, Taguig area — those high-end bars with high-end customers who use party drugs. Anyway, they look cooperative,” he said.
