De La Salle University (DLSU) has already accepted the resignation of Juno Sauler as head coach of the Green Archers in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament, according to the statement released by the university on Tuesday
“De La Salle University announces the resignation of Green Archers Men’s Basketball Head Coach Juno Sauler. He filed his resignation today, 24, November 2015,” the statement said.
Sauler steered the Green Archers to a championship in 2013 and a couple of Final Four appearances. He has a 31-19 win-loss record as head coach of La Salle.
“The University extends its appreciation to Coach Juno for his years of dedicated service to the team. With his able leadership, he orchestrated the Green Archers’ outstanding performances that gave DLSU championship titles from the 76th UAAP Season, the 2013 Philippine Collegiate Champion’s League, and the 2014 FilOil tournament,” the statement added.
According to sources, veteran mentor Siot Tanquincen and former Philippine Basketball Association star Allan Caidic are being considered to replace Sauler.
Tanquincen and Caidic were Sauler’s assistants this season.
“The University will form a search committee for a new head coach and will keep the Lasallian community as well as the public informed,” the statement ended.
La Salle failed to make it to the Final Four this year after finishing fifth with a 6-8 card.
