Documents prove Marwan’s close ties with MILF – senator

SENATOR Alan Peter Cayetano on Monday presented documents that supposedly showed the “intimate” relationship between Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Cayetano showed reporters photocopies of an arrest warrant and indictment papers against Rahmat Abdhir, brother of Marwan, containing e-mail exchanges between the siblings.

Based on the documents, Abdhir, who is also a known terror suspect, communicated with Marwan through email but the two refrained from using their real names to avoid being tracked.

They usually discussed items that Marwan wanted his brother to send him such as accessories for firearms, two-way radios, knives, backpacks and publications about firearms.

Marwan, who was killed by police commandos in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, on January 25, also asked his brother to send him money to buy firearms and other equipment through bank accounts provided by Marwan using other names.

The siblings, according to the documents, often communicated in code to disguise the nature of their activities. They used terms such as “iron” to refer to firearms, “dogs” to refer to government agents and “prizes” and “presents” to refer to bombs or improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Marwan also kept Rahmat updated on his activities in the Philippines.

In one of his emails to his brother dated June 29, 2006, Marwan mentioned the killing of a man who hosted him in 2005 by government forces.

In another email, Marwan informed his brother about the death of Abu Hashim, commander of the MILF’s 105th Base Command who died on July 30, 2006. Hashim is the same MILF commander who gave Marwan the safe conduct pass certification for him to be able to move within MILF territories.

The document also mentioned the possible involvement of MILF Commander Wahid Tundok in coddling Marwan. Tundok was believed to have introduced the Malaysian to gun dealers.

“Earlier the commander here told me that the gun dealer in the city has an M203 for sale. The price is 3K USD. . . this 203 is only available every once in a while,” part of Marwan’s letter read.

“It’s becoming more and more clear that Marwan had intimate relationship with the MILF,” Cayetano said.

When he appeared at the Senate last week, Mohagher Iqbal, the chief peace negotiator of the MILF, denied that the group coddled Marwan.

The senator noted that Marwan was killed about 500 meters from the house of an MILF commander, a clear indication of his relationship with the group.

He said Marwan stayed in an area surrounded by the MILF and members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and Abu Sayyaf Group, which means that the terrorist enjoyed the protection of these groups.

“And the best proof is that when the SAF men killed Marwan, the MILF and other groups joined forces to kill those SAF men,” Cayetano added.

The senator said if the MILF is really sincere in talking peace, it should admit the group’s real relationship with Marwan and disclose the location of their firearm factory.

We should be as alarmed as Senator Cayetano, because the whole world is alarmed at killings with shouts of “Allahu Akbar!”

MILF and the whole Bangsamoro people should swear by the Quran to have no links with Jamaah Islamiah, the ISIS and other jidahists’ groups.

MILF representatives in the Senate and House should also be provided a Quran for them “to swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.”

  2. MILF trained a lot of Al Qaida,ISIS broke away from Al Qaida and ISIS learned their brutality by beheading and burning people alive from the terrorist MILF when they were still Al Qaida.Marwan might even be a Malaysian intelligence officer that is why MILF is protecting him.
