THE Department of Energy turns 25 today, and as it celebrates its silver anniversary, it renews its commitment to empowering the growth of the country through energy–and doing so, sustainably.

The DoE was created in 1992, during the Presidency of Fidel Ramos, by virtue of Republic Act (RA) No. 7638 otherwise known as the Department of Energy Act. Other laws, including RA 9136, the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001; RA 9367, the Biofuels Act of 2006; and RA 9513, the Renewable Energy Act of 2008, gave it additional powers and functions.
