• DOE eyes Japanese investors

In a bid to boost foreign in-vestments in the country’s energy sector, officials of the Department of Energy (DOE) are set to attend a dialogue-symposium on energy in Tokyo, Japan, starting today to Friday.

In a statement, the energy dep-artment said that the DOE del-egation, lead by Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla, will present investment opportunities to potential investors from different Japanese firms.

Other DOE officials who are part of the delegation are Undersecretary Loreta Ayson, Oil Industry Man-agement Bureau Director Zenaida Monsada and Renewable Energy Management Bureau Director Mario Marasigan.

The event is part of the project entitled “Study on the Energy Sector Reform in the Philippines,” a collective undertaking of the DOE, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Institute of Energy Economics, Japan.

Organized and funded by JICA, it will tackle issues on energy policy and energy-related investment opportunities in the country.

JICA is the government of Japan’s independent agency that coordi-nates official development assis-tance (ODA), cooperation in economic growth and development issues.
