• DOH checks Chikungunya outbreak scare in Palawan

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY: A team of experts from the Department of Health (DOH) arrived in Quezon town in southern Palawan on Tuesday to check on the Chikungunya outbreak scare there. Dr. Josieveline Abiog Damalerio, municipal health officer of Quezon, said the blood samples from 14 patients they sent to the DOH tested positive of Chikungunya, an illness that is transmitted by mosquitoes and can cause fever, joint and muscle pain, headaches, and rashes. Damalerio said the DOH wants to check the level of affectation and how it can be stopped from affecting other residents. She said the DOH will also inspect other areas, where there might also be cases of the viral disease.
