A Chinese gambling lord who is wanted in China will be allowed to stay in the Philippines until completion of an investigation of his alleged bribery of lawmakers to gain their support for the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on Monday said she is determined to deport Wang Bo, but she cannot do so because the House of Representatives will conduct a probe of the alleged bribery.
Once Wang is deported, she added, it would be hard to get his testimony and secure his appearance during the congressional inquiry.
De Lima said she is in a quandary because she has already prepared a resolution for Wang’s deportation.
“Yan po ang aking dilemma, [That’s my dilemma]…why I wanted to already order the deportation of Mr. Wangbo. In fact I have a resolution already,” she added.
