• DOJ lawyer victimized by ‘Basag Kotse’

A basag kotse (car window breaking) gang in Cubao, Quezon City (Metro Manila) on Monday night broke into the car of a lawyer who works at the Department of Justice (DOJ) and stole more than P20,000 worth of belongings and important documents. Lawyer Diana Cabrales said she parked her car securely locked in front of Triple I International Industries at around 6 p.m., and dined with her friends at a restaurant adjacent to where she parked. At about 10 p.m., she discovered the right rear passenger side window already broken and bags containing signed bank checks, important case documents and her bar certification as a lawyer were already missing. Also taken was the bag of Angela Paralio, Cabrales’ friend, containing a gold necklace worth P20,000 with cash and some personal belongings. Police Officer (PO)1 Raymart Hilvano and PO5 Eugene Brava said investigation was on-going as to the identity of the suspects.

    1. Are these two victims so naive or stupid as to leave valuable possessions in the car? They could have brought their bags with them when they went to the restaurant. Have they not heard of “basag kotse” or the MO of car thieves? It is too bad, but sometimes victims are the architect of their own misfortune.
