• DOLE bans migrant workers deployment to Yemen

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) imposed a total ban on the processing and deployment of both returning and newly hired overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) bound for Yemen. In a governing board resolution of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) published at The Manila Times on Tuesday, it said that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has informed the DOLE that it raised the crisis alert level in Yemen from Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 3 or the voluntary repatriation with total deployment ban, including returning OFWs. The DFA said that the Alert Level 3 is issued when “violent disturbances or external aggression” occur in a limited area and that “the Filipinos in this area are enjoined return to the Philippines and the DOLE automatically imposes absolute deployment band.”
