The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will offer 115,384 jobs nationwide on May 1, 2014 or Labor Day.
In a statement, DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said on Wednesday the department will simultaneously conduct 65 job fairs in 16 regions. She added that 1,985 employers had confirmed to join the job fair.
“These numbers are preliminary and may increase,” Baldoz said.
Citing records from the DOLE, the secretary reported that they already conducted 266 job fairs from January 1 to March 31 this year.
Meanwhile, 17 job fairs, including the biggest one at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, where 170 participating local and overseas employers will offer 25,000 vacancies, will be held in the National Capital Region (NCR or Metro Manila).
Also, job fairs will be held at the following SM Supermalls: North EDSA, Megamall, Valenzuela, Fairview, Novaliches, Manila, San Lazaro, Santa Mesa, Pasig, Marikina, South Mall, Las Pinas, Sucat, Bicutan, BF Paranaque, and Muntinlupa.
In the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), job fairs will be held at the Baguio Convention Center and at SM City Baguio.
A series of job fairs will also be held at SM Rosales Mall, Rosales, Pangasinan and LGU-Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, Tuguegarao City, Santiago City, Isabela, Calapan City, Naga City, Iloilo and Bacolod City.
This year’s Labor Day theme is “Sa Sipag, Tiyaga, at Talino, Buong Mundo Saludo sa Manggagawang Pilipino.”
In last year’s Labor Day job fairs, the DOLE was able to register close to 100,000 job vacancies.
