• DOLE posts 86% minimum wage compliance by Bicol firms

LEGAZPI CITY: The Department of Labor and Employment Bicol regional office has recorded an 86.1-percent compliance in minimum wage in the Bicol Region this July. This can be gleaned from the new on-line Labor Laws Compliance System (LLCS) – an Internet-based system that automatically tracks down, rates and reports the accomplishment of the Labor Laws Compliance Officers (LLCOs) not only in the Bicol Region but also in the entire country. “This new LLCS system is on-line, meaning, every time our LLCOs logged on to it, their report is automatically captured and generated. We can see here what our personnel are doing at the field,” DOLE Bicol Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra said on Friday. The LLCOs, formerly called inspectors, are the ones responsible in checking the compliance of establishments in general labor standards and occupational safety and health standards. The difference between the LLCOs now and the inspectors before is the use of a developmental rather than a police approach in pushing for compliance, Lacambra said.
