DOLE reminds employers of 13th month pay

LABOR Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz on Wednesday reminded private sector employers to give their workers the 13th month payment as required by law. The 13th month pay is defined as one-twelfth of the basic salary of an employee within a calendar year. Baldoz said employers who fail to comply with the law will be liable to money claim cases, which aggrieved employees can file with any Department of Labor and Employment regional office.
