Vice President Jejomar Binay should not attend the inquiry of the Senate blue ribbon committee into the Makati City Hall Building 2 because it is biased, former Zambales Rep. Maria Milagros Magsaysay said on Sunday.
“He [Binay] should not go there anymore because the investigation is very biased. Besides, “cases have been filed with the Ombudsman so let them deal with it,” Magsaysay told The Manila Times.
She said the credibility of the “investigators” is suspect since Senators Antonio Trillanes 4th and Alan Peter Cayetano also have plans to run for President in 2016.
“The senators should concentrate more on finding solutions to all the pressing problems are country is facing right now,” Magsaysay said.
Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla, the Vice President’s spokesman on political affairs, said Binay will decide on Wednesday whether to attend the hearing. The Senate committee had sent Binay an invitation.
Binay’s camp said the Vice President is not afraid of the Senate probe but is skeptical because of the way the two senators are running the hearing.
The Vice President, in an interview over radio station Bombo Radyo in Cauayan, Isabela, on Saturday, said the Senate investigation is but a mere demolition job against him and his family.
“Haharap ka na may desisyon na. Prejudged na. Magsasalita lang ako na parang abugado ha? Alam mo ‘yung nangyayari du’n hindi naman ebidensya ‘yun. Talagang paninira lang. Kasi para mabuo ang isang ebidensya, yung karapatan ng sinusumbong, yung right to cross-examine, eh wala ‘yun. Wala kang tanong du’n eh. Sila nagtatanong. Nili-lead pa nila ‘yung tinatanong [The committee already has a decision. It has prejudged the matter. Please let me speak as a lawyer. There is no evidence being presented there. It is just a smear job. For an evidence to be called such, the accused should be given the opportunity to cross-examine his accusers, but none of that is there. You cannot raise questions. The members of the committee are the ones asking the questions. The even lead those whom they are asking],” Binay noted.
