DOST, partners celebrate agri ‘fiesta’ in Cavite


The Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research, Development and Extension Consortium (STAARRDEC) held two major events this week in Bacoor, Cavite to bring together the agriculture sector’s key players and feature important research and innovations.

The event entitled “STAARRDEC FIESTA & RSRDEH 2016: Showcasing the Region’s Products and Innovations” was a four-day event filled with various activities such as street dancing, media conference, paper and poster presentations, technology and business fora, exhibits, cooking contest, quiz bee, and poster making contest.

FIESTA or the Farmer and Industry Encounter through Science and Technology Agenda is a strategy that gathers farmers, investors, processors, traders and consumers to exchange knowledge and business solutions. RSRDEH or Regional Symposium on Research Development and Extension Highlights is a means of recognizing significant contributions on Research, Development and Extension in the region.

These activities were intended to promote interaction among researchers, extension workers, local government units, and technology users/clients such as investors, farmers, fisher folks and entrepreneurs.

The STAARDEC FIESTA & RSRDEH 2016 was held in partnership with the Local Government of Bacoor, Cavite State University and the Department of Science and Technology- Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development.

The event was held on November 21 to 24 at the Bacoor Government Center.
