ILOILO CITY: The Department of Tourism regional office here is allocating P5,570,000 for the improve-ment and reconstruction of potential tourist sites in five municipalities of the province of Antique as part of the DOT Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) projects in 2014.
The assistance was given for the improvement of Siraan Hot Spring and Health Resort in the town of Anini-y, Tourism Development Plan in Laua-an, improvement of access trail and watch tower for the Rafflesia flowering plants in Marigne in Barbaza, purchase of 20 bamboo-rafts in Pandan and marine-based ecotour in Tibiao.
DOT Regional Director Helen Catalbas said the amount was released for the construction of a two-story building, rehabilitation of cottages, tubs and pool and the construction of additional swimming pool of the Siraan Hot Spring and Health Resort, while construction at the the marine-based ecotour in Tibiao worth P1,425,000 is ongoing.
Catalbas said the agency is planning a ‘Loboc Style’ experience in Bugang River and construct three hanging bridges around the area going to Malumpati Springs. A conference hall, mass age areas and eating areas for tourists will be constructed.
Antique plans to improve its fish spas and kawas in Tibiao as well as promote trekking and kayaking in mountain areas. The province’s Evelio B. Javier Airport is being planned for reconstruction to open up accessibility for air travel.
