The Department of Tourism’s “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign won a bronze at the Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards for 2016.
One of the top five nominees under the “Best of the Decade “ category, the DOT competed with companies from Australia, India, Pakistan and other Philippine entries for the award.
The category gathers the outstanding advertising campaign of the decade (2005-2015) that best exemplifies creative idea and execution with results.
Tourism Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. also won a Tambuli Crimson Award for “promoting the Philippines globally through excellent use of Marketing Communications” and industry leadership.
“ Five years ago, no one could have predicted that tourism would one day be the third largest dollar earning industry in the country. Today, this has become a reality.
All these successes in tourism and global recognitions would not have been possible without the support from our tourism partners and stakeholders, who helped us in making tourism become a national business and a major economic driver. From a mom-and-pop operation to a thriving national business, tourism in the country now encompasses and cuts across other sectors – from agriculture, to infrastructure, education, cuisine, to arts and culture. While we have ushered in an era of modern Philippine tourism, I believe that this is just the beginning of a more promising future for the Philippines and our peoples,” Jimenez said.
The Asia-Pacific Awards honor brands that “do good” and “do well.”
