DOT’s #PHLthankyou campaign wins top award for advocacy in ARAW Values Advertising Awards

The Department of Tourism ‘s (DOT) ‘Philippines Says Thank You’ campaign has received the top award for advocacy during the 9th ARAW Values Advertising Awards held arlier this week.

BBDO Guerrero Creative Chairman David Guerrero on his Twitter account expressed happiness upon receiving the award last Thursday night.

“We were honored with the Platinum (top) award for Advocacy for DOT during last night’s ARAW Values Awards,” Guerrero said.

‘Philippines Says Thank You’ is a brainchild of local advertising firm BBDO Guerrero, which also thought of the DOT’s slogan under the Aquino administration, It’s More Fun in the Philippines.

The thank you campaign allowed simultaneous thank you messages to emerge from social media sites, print ads and billboards in iconic places across the world at 4:40 am, last Feb 9 (Manila time).

It has reached over 1.8 million people worldwide as an expression of Filipinos’ gratitude for continuous international support for the country’s ongoing rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts following typhoon “Yolanda” which struck the country November last year.

Some of these iconic places were the Times Square, New York, U.S.; Piccadilly Circus, London, U.K.; Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo; Potsdamer Platz cor. Leipziger Platz, Berlin, Germany; Lafayette Mogador, Paris, France, among others.

The ARAW Values Advertising Awards recognizes outstanding and excellent advertising and marketing messages and/or materials for Branded Communications and Advocacy/Institutional Advertising that promote a cluster of select and well-defined values for positive social changes.

It is organized by the Advertising Foundation of the Philippines (Ad Foundation), the social development institution and advocacy body of the multi-sector Philippine advertising and marketing communications industry. PNA
