COTABATO CITY, Maguindanao: The Department of Public Works and Highways in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DPWH-ARMM) has allocated a total of P171 million for various infrastructure projects in the province of Sulu.
In a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on Tuesday by ARMM Gov. Mujiv Hataman and DPWH-ARMM OIC Regional Secretary Don Mustapha Loong and Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan 2nd with Jolo Mayor Hussin Amin.
“This is a strong partnership with local government units (LGUs) that tends to accelerate development in the ARMM,” Hataman said.
The MOA stipulated that P119.5M is earmarked for the implementation of various high-impact infrastructure projects in the province of Sulu while the Jolo municipal government will receive an amount of P 41M funding under regular infrastructure funds for 2015.
This is part of the around P1.27 billion infra budget for the 1st District of Sulu or around P2.4 billion for the entire province of Sulu for the year 2015 alone.
Prior to the approval of the request to enter into MOA, Sulu District Engineer Munir Hadjirul validated the equipment and capability of the provincial government and Jolo municipal government to implement projects.
Hadjirul said that these two LGUs have been strong partners of DPWH -ARMM Sulu 1st District Engineering Office in project implementation.
OIC DPWH-ARMM Secretary Loong said that the Bangsamoro people will benefit from the projects.
“The Bangsamoro government will inherit well developed infrastructures in the region that will pave the way towards achieving peace and prosperity in ARMM, the entire Mindanao and the country as a whole,” Loong said.
